Flight Masters are located in Elkhart, Indiana. At present we have close to 100 members in our club.. Here in Elkhart we are at the heart of the trailer/manufactured housing capitol of the USA. With that in mind we have some very prolific builders and some very ingenious ways of doing things. Our Club meets the second Thursday of each month at the Elkhart Municipal Airport, Terminal Building on the South side off of Edwardsburg Road, Elkhart, at 7:00 PM. During the summer months we meet at our flying field.
Our Flying Field is one of the best in our area. A 850' X 700' wedge with unobstructed approaches (except some years when the corn is up) it is located in the middle of a 1 mile square section of farm land. Only minutes from downtown, located on the East side of Elkhart off of Middlebury street (CR 14) just east of CR 17 on the south side. It is an all grass field which we try to keep cut short for small wheels.
We have a 15' X 20' sun shelter to be able to get out of the sun on a hot summers day. Picnic tables are available for the family and there is an Amish toilet for the necessary things.
The dues for 2008 will be setup in a tiered structure as follows payable by January 31, 2008:
Full open member volunteer 120.00
Family membership volunteer 140.00
Senior member volunteer (65 & up) 90.00
Junior member volunteer (up to 18) 5.00
Non-volunteer work exempt 195.00
Non-volunteer work exempt Senior 165.00
Our club depends on volunteers and support from members for the care of the field, equipment and the support for our club meetings. With that, to qualify for the volunteer membership, 10 hours a year of volunteer service has been set as a benchmark for each member.
