Club Ramblings Looking to Widen Out! Denny Overholser is heading a "find a field" group that is looking at possible future flying sites. We know that construction of an industrial park immediately west of our location at Bullard's field is soon to come. The impact of an industrial park on our flying will not be known until it is built. By then, we hope to have several alternative sites, not only for backup just in case, but alternative sites to lessen the long waiting times, especially on the weekends. Wednesday’s are "Trainer Night" Throughout the summer months every Wednesday night will be a special trainer night. Those of you who currently instruct or want to instruct along with those learning to fly are encouraged to take Wednesday’s and fly. All club members should take special note and allow trainers to get as much airtime as possible. This should help our students progress faster and free up weekend flying time. If you have questions or would like to become a club instructor contact Marty King. Frequency Board Please use the frequency board! We have noticed that quite a few flyers are either not getting the pin or getting the pin but not leaving their FMEC/AMA card on the board. This has to be corrected. It is an accepted practice within our club that if you shoot someone down you have to replace his plane. Please do not place yourself in this position. Before you ever turn on your radio walk to the board, get the pin and leave your card. Please follow the clubs directions and use the frequency board as designed. We need to remember there is no taxiing into the pit area behind the barriers.
Spread Spectrum radio hits the Big Time Stan Treadway has modified the frequency board to hold AMA/FlightMaster cards for those that use Spread Spectrum Radios. The Pins are Green. With new technology comes new changes in how we interact on the flight line. The 2.4 GHz radios do not pose a threat to the pilots using the 72 MHz band.
More Spread Spectrum News Besides the announcement from Horizon Hobbies on the new DX7 system they have gone even farther and will make available modules and receivers for current models of Futaba and JR radios. If you have a radio with a changeable module in the back you too could go Spread Spectrum. Orders are being taken now for a late April delivery. Also another company, Extreme Power Systems, will also be entering the module/receiver market. They will be taking orders at Toledo and delivering product shortly after. You can check them out at http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/index.php
